Friday Night

I came home to Lexington tonight due to a hair appointment tomorrow afternoon. (I know...don't judge me...I just haven't found a hair person in Greenville!) Mom and I met Banks at Buffalo Wild Wings in Lexington. They renovated the old movie store into the restaurant and it was a great location and the food was decent.

After the movie, we ditched Banks and headed to Pastime Theatre (which is a LITTLE dated, to say the least) to see Letters to Juliet. The movie trailer looked pretty hokie, but it ended up being a great sweet story and left you with a fuzzy feeling. :)

Looking forward to the long weekend ahead...Simpsonville opened a new movie theater so Josh and I are going to check it out at some point (going to see Robin Hood)--and I'm sure the pool is on our forecast as well!

A Recent Project...

Life, in general, has been incredibly hectic the past couple of months. I am beyond thrilled to say--we have only four more days of school...three of those being half days. I am looking forward to the summer and hopefully, most importantly, resting up! Secondary to sleep-I hope to finish our home being 'put together'--as we have yet to even hang pictures and we've lived here for 11 months! Lastly, I hope to have an opportunity to sew lots!
Speaking of sewing...a friend of mine from high school asked me to sew her first baby's crib bedding. It really is a huge honor that my friends trust me to do this-and while it is a huge undertaking, it's always worth it when the nursery is complete and ready for a new baby! I loved the fabric that Betsy chose and I can't wait to see all of it together!

Six Months

So, I failed to blog about MAP and Steven's engagement a month ago......so, here's their shout out! Six months from today they are getting married! We are counting down the days until November 20th and can't wait until the celebrating begins!

Yard Work 101

Anyone who knows me, knows manual labor is not my forte. Yesterday was a day of just that-manual labor. Holy COW, I now understand why people PAY people to do this stuff. Yard work is for the BIRDS. Josh ordered 15 square yards of mulch--which in layman's terms--is a LOT of mulch. Josh spent several hours Friday moving it to beds and around the house and we both spent three or four hours Saturday morning finishing up the job. Below are pictures of the flowers that were planted...I didn't even get good pictures of the mulching. Just take my word, it looks good :) We bought new pots for the front steps and I planted some spikey thing in the middle with begonias around it.

Our little row of begonias with the caladiums sprouting behind.

The caladiums are slowly coming up...

Gracie has gotten her fair share of the great outdoors lately.

We planted a raised garden this year...we shall see if anything grows! (Seeing as how I kill everything!) We planted tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, okra, green bell peppers, and a jalapeno.

Dad bought us this little birdhouse several years ago...and now it finally has a home! I am anxiously awaiting a little birdies arrival

New Furniture

If you remember from several posts back, I mentioned ordering new chairs for the famiy room and master bedroom. They finally came in last weekend and I could not be more pleased with the outcome. I was a bit nervous since I hadn't seen the fabric actually on the chairs themselves, but they fit in perfectly in the rooms. Slowly (and I do mean VERY slowly), the house is coming together.

a view from the catwalk upstairs.

These match perfectly in our bedroom--and fill up a large section of the bedroom, which is what we intended them to do. They are most comfy as well, and I'm looking forward to finding a perfect table to place in the middle, along with a floor lamp--to make a cozy reading nook. I'm also on a mission for some red ticking to go along for accent colors, and I'll probably sew a pillow or two.

Now that the "big" purchases are out of the way, on to the FUN stuff! (meaning--curtains, side tables, lamps, accessories, prints, etc)
