The blog has been neglected this fall and I'm working on catching up on the fun that we've had this season. The best way to keep up with us right now is through Instagram--it is the easiest way to document life for us right now.
Thank you for all the comments on our announcement. Those that know us well, know that getting (and staying) pregnant the first go round was no easy feat and then my pregnancy with Ellie was one stress after another. When I told Dr MacChlenahan in July that we were ready to at least try for another baby, she looked at me like I was an alien. I had told her after Ellie's birth that I was done--no way was I doing it again--she said she never believes patients when they tell her that but that she truly did with me. (never say never...time heals) All this to say that we went into this with a mentality that if we have another baby, we will be over the moon--if we don't, we are so thankful that God blessed us with our Ellie and we were ok with the idea of her being an only child.
Needless to say, everything happened very quickly with absolutely no stress and so far, this pregnancy has been picture perfect and very much by the book. I don't have time to sit around and think about all the "what if's" like I did before--we have a very active 2 year old that keeps us busy and preoccupied, and honestly I am so thankful for that even through the exhaustion--it has kept my mental state much healthier.
We are 15 weeks in and it's all slowly beginning to sink in that we are having another baby, that Ellie won't be an only child anymore, and how big of a change it will be for our family. My sweet friend Hannah texted me that we were giving Ellie the greatest gift we could ever give her and it put a lump in my throat as I thought about my own brother and the great relationship that we have. Whether it be a girl or a boy, we pray our children are the best of friends throughout life.
We went and picked out Ellie's "big girl" furniture yesterday as we will start transitioning her out of the nursery. She absolutely loves her crib and unfortunately we will have to give her the boot, as she is making no attempts (even at 2.5 years old) to exit. I think she would go to college in it if we allowed. We are hoping to start the move over to her new room sometime after Christmas, allowing for a couple of months to adjust. Before we throw another monkey wrench into her life with the baby's arrival in probably mid to late April. Our due date is May 1st but I will have a scheduled c-section (due to Ellie's delivery being a section) and it will most likely be at 38 or 39 weeks.
Thank you again for your prayers and love the past couple of weeks. Our prayer right now is for the pregnancy to continue as uneventful as it has so far and for a healthy FAT baby in April!
