Well, I have officially given up blogging monthly for Thomas. I made it 12 months but doesn't appear I'll make it to 2 like I did with Ellie. Second kid problems, I know. Maybe I'll try every 4 month posts instead.
At his 15 month well visit, he was 22 pounds and 32". He is fairly thin according to the growth chart but he is LONG. He's long especially in his torso and he is nearly busting out of his spring and summer clothes, but at this point...I'm not buying more so we are making do until we can pull fall out!
He's wearing:
18 months clothes (and squeezing him in 12 month!)
18 and 24 month pjs
Size 4 diapers (but moving him up to 5's)
Size 4 or 5 shoes
He started Gymboree last month and he loves it! He prefers the climbing on equipment (where E preferred the singing and parachute time) but loves the bubbles and loves Gymbo the clown.
We have been going to the gym all summer and into the school year and he has gotten used to being dropped off at the nursery and loves going to play. I think he's sad on days that we don't go -- he loves Ms Katie -- we call her his girlfriend because he gets so shy when he sees her and bats his eyelashes at her.
His language has exploded the past month or so. He consistently is signing "more" and "all done" -- we have to prompt "please", but he can sign that as well. He points to his head, eyes, ears, and nose. He has started vocalizing a lot in the past couple of weeks and he is discovering that words that have meaning and we are so thankful because he knows exactly what he wants and will whine until we figure it out since he doesn't have the words quite yet.
Words that he uses: mama, dada, bubble, kaka (for kitty), nana (banana), hot, buckle (when we put him in his car seat), da (for dog), ball, ma (more), lots of environment noises (ambulance, car, airplane), and lots of animal noises (cow, chicken, duck, pig, goat, sheep).
When he hears the song "peppa pig"....he always responds with the pig noise. It is our favorite trick!
He has all of his teeth -- his canines just came in last week and we are so glad teething is behind us besides the two year molars. Thomas exhibits just about every teething symptom you can have -- diaper rash, dirty diapers, runny nose. Hot mess!
He loves his sister SO much! She is most definitely his favorite person.
He continues to be a thumb sucker -- especially with his lovie. He and Ellie suck their thumbs and rub their lovies exactly the same.
Some of his favorites:
Food -- granola bar, fruit, anything carbs
toy: golf clubs, anything he can push, trucks
book: Big Red Barn; That's not my monkey/truck/puppy
animal: cats/dogs
Drink: smoothies
He's sleeping 12 hours at night and will take a 2 hour or so nap in the afternoon. We dropped his morning nap at 12 months so that we wouldn't be confined to the house in the mornings over the summer. He doesn't seem to require quite as much sleep to stay happy throughout the day.
He likes to pretend to do lots of things with real objects -- he is very much monkey see, monkey do.
He will brush his hair, brush his teeth, talk on the telephone...and this morning he had my (unplugged) curling iron and was attempting to curl his hair. (Daddy is so proud)
Sweet baby boy -- we sure do LOVE you so! Can't imagine life without you!
