14 Months!

Ellie is 14 months!
This month literally flew by--we are having a wonderful summer and I'm getting sad to see it coming to an end and a routine returning.
 At 14 months...
Ellie's personality is absolutely blooming and in full force.  She is somewhat of an intense little girl--she has one of the shortest tempers I have ever come across in a young child, yet she can super giggly and silly the next second.  We really never know what we're going to get with her!
I have no idea Ellie's weight/height.  She feels heavier to me as my arm gets tired when I hold her for long periods of time--but that's my only gauge, which is less than scientific.

She's wearing:
Clothes: 6 and 9 months
PJs: 12 months (she now wears some 2-pc pj's which makes her look entirely too grown up!)
Diapers: size 3 (I think we'll be in these forever!)

Her hair has grown a lot this month and her hair bows actually have a little something to cling to.
Some of Ellie's favorite things to do:
peeking under furniture and peering around corners
playing with her sound machine.  She knows how to turn it on and it makes her SO sad when she does it because she thinks it means she has to take a nap.
swimming--I wish we had gotten her enrolled in lessons this summer.  we still might in the fall.

She is sleeping in later lately--typically until 8 or so.  She may wake up earlier than that but she really loves to lay in her crib and suck her thumb and rub her lovie on her face for a little while before she gets up.

Words:  dog, doggy, daddy, tiger, ball (said 1x)
She is OBSESSED with dogs.  She sees them on random commercials or hear a bark and will yell out "doggy!".  She is also doing a good job recognizing them in her books.

She loves looking at family pictures--there is one from her baptism on the refrigerator and she looks at it every single time after she eats and gets so excited!
She took her first steps this month and she will take a couple everyday but she has absolutely no balance.  And she hates practicing--when we pull her up to walk, she just sits back down when we let go.  Walking to me is one of those things that I want her to do just to check it off our "milestone" checklist, but I know once she's walking full time it's going to be exhausting--so we're just trying to enjoy the stage that she is in now and know that she'll walk when she's ready.
She loves playing with my tape measure--she throws it around her neck and crawls around with it trailing behind her.
She has a Fisher Price dollhouse that she loves pressing the buttons that make noise.
She's into smelling things (we'll tell her to "smell the flower"), waving at everyone in public and clapping when we say "yay ellie!"
She is also obsessed with balls.  Probably her favorite toy.
She has learned to ride in the car so much better, thanks to the DVD player and "Animals in our World"--we have watched it approximately 45 times in the past month.

She is holding up her play phone to her ear to pretend to talk.
She is extremely attached to her lovie.  She has two--a white lambie and a pink elephant.  One stays in the crib, the other in the car.  She also has a blankie with satin that she sleeps and rides with as well.
When she's tired she sucks her thumb and weaves the lovie through her fingers so that she can rub it on her face--and she sticks the lovie's ears up her nose.  weird and hilarious.
She's finding her belly button when we ask where it is.
 Favorite foods:
granola bars--would eat them all day, everyday if I let her.  I limit her to one a day, much to her dismay
broccoli, butter beans, green beans--she actually loves vegetables and eats them better than fruit
She drinks fruit soy milk or vanilla soy milk.  Will not touch whole milk so we're working with what we've got!
Thank you for making our lives full of fun and love!  We couldn't love you more!

Isle of Palms

Daddy had a business trip in Memphis a couple of weeks ago so E and I spent the week in Lexington--mainly so I could have a little reinforcement and help with prissy.
Mom wanted to see Ellie on the beach this summer so we packed up and drove to Charleston for a night--she was already used to the beach from our trip to HH so of course she loved the sun, water and sand!
Love that these pictures show her teenie buddah belly!

The waves rushing up is her favorite!

Had to include these post-church pictures--this dress (that is sized a 6 month) was put up for next summer as it's still a bit large but I did love the fishy!

Happy 4th of July!

We celebrated the 4th at the annual party at our cousin's lake house!  I only got pictures of Ellie being held but they are sweet and make my heart full--my Uncle Carty and Aunt Reenie are two of my most favorite people on the planet and they treat Ellie more as a grandchild than a neice!
Can you tell Uncle Carty has had much experience with babies?
and can you tell he loves her to pieces?
E had to check out Gin's puppy, Lily!  We are working on petting animals gently.

and Aunt Reenie always has fascinating jewelry on...and she actually lets Ellie hold it, unlike me!
I always loved Aunt Reenie's diamonds as a young child and she bought me my very own diamond ring when I was 5 or 6...it's a chip but special nonetheless and it's already in E's jewelry box for when she is older to love it as much as I did.

no great place to be than Aunt Reenie and Uncle Carty's laps!

other than the lake, floating with daddy!
I stayed out of the disgusting water (it was so gross that I had to scrub Ellie's bathing suit to get out the dirt...eww!) and let them do the floating!

We LOVE the 4th!!
(and I had to include a picture of our peanut last 4th...what a difference a year makes!)

These days...

I somehow slipped and let 2 weeks go by without a post...little bit is keeping me busy this summer!  I'll have to catch you up on her shenanigans soon...in the meantime, here are some pictures!

of course I had to document E in her first Lilly...

notice she has to have something in hand in order for a picture is able to be taken?  the girl is on the MOVE!

13 Months

Ellie turned 13 months several days ago but as I wanted to keep things in chronological order--this post is several days late!
Thanks Aunt Steph for my bubble!  I love her in white :)
 At 13 months...
Weight: 18 lbs even (3%)--took E to dr this week and she had dropped 4 oz?
Height: 28 1/4" (12% I think--going from memory)

Ellie's still wearing 6 and 9 month clothes.  I laugh that I was once panicked that she was going to outgrow her summer closet.  Some 9 months is still quite "hangy" on her little narrow shoulders.
Size 1 shoe.
Ellie's favorite thing to do is stand at her toy basket and throw everything out behind her shoulder one by one.  It looks like she's searching for something in particular but I think she just likes the activity.

Some of her favorite toys are things that shake and roll.  She loves shaking objects--we always say "shake, shake, shake...shake your booty!" when she is doing it.
 She's imitating everything--gestures, words, sounds/environmental noises.
She likes giving you whatever she has in her hand.  We'll tell her, "Ellie, give mama the ball.""--she'll hand it over, and then we'll say "why, thank you!then we'll hand it back and then she'll reach over to give it to daddy.  She plays this game over and over and giggles hysterically.

She is really into giving everything kisses right now.  She leans her head forward and slightly puckers her lips.

Loves holding her hands above her head when we ask "how big is Ellie?"  lots of times it's only one hand!
 Loves musical things--rhythm, songs, etc.

She is a beaver to her crib, however is improving with this.  Teething has been awful for her--she bites everything, including us!  OUCH!

She's into throwing everything over the edge of things--exhibit A below...
We bought a DVD player for the car and she has watched Einstein's "Animals in our World" approximately 30 times/week.  It has truly been a lifesaver and I am becoming sane again--however now the video is starting to drive me batty!

She loves waving and saying "hey"

"dog" and "doggy" are her favorite words right now.  Little stinker hardly ever says "mama" anymore!
She also started saying the firetruck sound.
Loves standing on her tippy toes!

Walking with only one hand from us!  She needs a bit of bravery, coupled with some balance and she will be there!  We really haven't pushed her though--we know she'll do it when she's good and ready!

She loves dancing and bouncing.

She started Gymboree this month and loves it!  Loves the activities and loves the other babies in her class!

she's imitating popping her lips together when we model it for her.
I love this stage--watching her little mind soak up everything!  Seeing her learn a new skill is SO much fun!  She delights in us clapping for her and is so proud of herself!  We are proud of you too, Bugs!

Bike Riding

I can't forget that Ellie rode on the back of my bike for the first time in HH.  She hung on for dear life to this handle bars and helmet was not her fav--but once we got going, she loved the wind in her face!

Riverbanks, Round 2

Ellie and I made a sleepover pit stop on the way back from the beach.  3 hours is about her limit of car riding, and it's about mine as well from the screaming and the crying.
We woke up Sunday morning and hit the zoo when it opened and before it was 300 degrees.
The monkeys put on a show for her
and with her favorite animal--the lion!
We bought some nectar for her to feed the parakeets and she was less than impressed.

 And she rode the carousel
 and checked out the fish
 and sat on the elephant
and fed the giraffes.  look at that tongue!
Riverbanks has so many "extras" these days--when we went it was just straight look at the animals.  I probably would've bypassed them but having Grammy around had its perks!

Grammy joined the zoo so I'm sure there will be lots of visits to come whenever it cools down just a bit!
