Ellie is 21 months!
We will be celebrating TWO before we know it.
At 21 months...
Weight: 20 lbs, 14 oz (2%)
Height: 31"
She finally reached the 20 lb mark--yet still under the 3rd percentile. Sigh.
It is also very obvious that she has grown in height because her rompers are all too short--yet according to the doctor's measurements, she's only grown 1/2"
She is wearing:
Dresses: 12 months
Rompers: 12/18 months
PJ's: 12/18 months
Diapers: size 3
Shoes: size 3
She had her first ear infection this month. She took her 10 days of antibiotic and was a BEAST the last 2 days of it--nothing could make her happy and everything ticked her off. Thank goodness she turned a corner when we stopped giving it to her--I thought it was going to be a very long year of the terrible two's.
She has had a big month developmentally. She has learned many new words and signs and is communicating very effectively. She is combining a couple short phrases and she loves labeling her family. She points to each of us and says "mama, daddy, Gracie, Ellie".
"Ellie" was "Eddy" but she is slowly correcting. Sad--because I love it when she says it.
Her signs that she does constantly are: more (she says the word too); please; elephant; all done; star; thank you. I think baby sign is the cutest thing ever.
She loves waving and saying "hi" and "bye bye".
She is very much into doing crafts--still loving coloring and play doh and painting. She comes home with a craft activity every Sunday from nursery that she is so proud of.
We have worked on puzzles this month and she has improved so much, thank goodness. A little patience would go a long ways with her..she exhibits none. We have her work for an m&m--I think she would do just about anything for one.
We had our family interview last week at Southside. She loved the director and was a complete ham, showing off all of her party tricks for her (which we can never get her to do on command).
She loves being the complete center of attention--she will fake giggle to get other's attention.
She is not a stranger to time out. She has a particularly bad habit of scratching when she's angry--either a person or the walls or furniture or poor Gracie. She definitely has a little attitude that we are working on nipping in the bud now rather than later.
She is showing more consistency with the potty. We put her on there 1-2 times/day and she has gotten much better at going, especially at night.
She is still loving Gymboree--she has gotten very good at climbing and maneuvering the equipment. She is working on squatting down and jumping up right now.
She "reads" text by pointing to the letters and saying "e, i, i, e"--apparently those are the only two letters in her books.
She loves to spin around in circles and twirl her dresses.
Her hair is getting so long--mom put it up in a waterspout last week and it is hilarious and adorable all at the same time. It has some sweet curls in it that especially curl up when we're outside.
Speaking of outside, we are patiently waiting for warmer weather. She loves being outside--picking up acorns and leaves. These past couple of weeks of so much rain have not been fun for her.
Her nanny, Mrs. Denise, has been in the hospital and we're not sure when she'll be able to come back. Our moms have filled in without not one complaint and we are forever grateful. We truly do not take for granted how much our families do for us--we are thankful daily.
Ellie's favorites:
Foods: hot dogs; pasta; m&m's; broccoli; green beans; gummy fruits
Drink: vanilla Pediasure and whole milk
Books: "I am small"--a book on penguins.
Songs: "Hot dog" on Mickey Mouse
Movies: Elmo
Animals: penguin; snakes; giraffes; and of course dogs. She's pretty much an animal lover.
Sweet bugs, you are changing so much every day--I cannot wrap my mind around you not being a baby anymore. While we of course love watching you grow, it's hard to let go of all things baby. We pray daily for your character, that you learn self-respect and in turn--respect for others, and that you strive to glorify God in all that you say and do as you grow. We couldn't be more proud to be your parents.
