Thomas turned a month old on the 25th of May! He has his own sweet elephant for his monthly pictures like Ellie did--except his is blue!
Thomas' One Month Stats:
Weight: 9 lbs, 9 oz (30%)
Height:
Head Circumference:
He is a growing boy! Clearly he really loves to eat--we are thankful that he is gaining weight so well, although he is growing out of clothes at a much more rapid pace than Ellie ever did (or does).
What is Thomas up to at 1 month?
He eats 7 times a day--a combination of nursing and bottles. When we are home I nurse him and if we are out, I typically give him a bottle unless we are somewhere that I feel comfortable nursing him. He nurses really well and I continue to be so thankful for the opportunity to have that special time with him. I missed out on that with Ellie and it is so much easier than all that pumping I had to do with her.
He has a confirmed allergy, based on a dirty diaper that Dr Dobson tested. I have cut out dairy and soy (which is nearly downright impossible) and that has helped significantly. We are continuing to monitor him to make a decision as to whether I need to drop wheat, eggs, or nuts as well. Praying that he outgrows the allergy sooner rather than later. It is hard to see him uncomfortable. We actually figured out the allergy in that he was often unsettled--he isn't a huge crier (yet) and doesn't writhe in pain but it's just obvious sometimes that he doesn't feel well.
He fights naps like a complete champ. We are following Moms on Call much earlier with him than we did Ellie and so he has become somewhat of a nap and bedtime snob and likes to have things just so. There are advantages and disadvantages to this...he naps well in the car however is a light sleeper when we are out running errands. Luckily he goes down for bed at night very easily.
He is waking up once a night--like clockwork at 2:30. He will go back down fairly well until about 6:30 and he is hungry again.
He had his first bath around 3 weeks. Since then, we give him nightly baths. He doesn't love them but tolerates them. We have already given up the PUJ as he was too long for it. Sad.
He is wearing...
Diapers: size 1
Clothes: mostly 3 months, some newborn if they are cut big
His nickname so far is "buddy". We all call him that often, including Ellie.
He really likes being on his tummy and doesn't mind tummy time. Probably why he already has incredibly strong head control. For the most part, he is a go with the flow baby with minimal dramatics.
When he does tummy time, Ellie likes to be on the floor with him and will encourage him to turn his head from side to side. When he does it, she will say "I'm so proud of you, buddy!".
His typical schedule is:
6:30--feed
7--nap
9--feed
9:30--play
10--nap
12--feed
12:30--play
1--nap
3--feed
3:30--play
4--nap
5:30--feed
6--play
6:30--nap
8--bath/pj's/feed
8:30--bedtime
waking up around 2:30 for his night feeding.
Everyday is a blessing with this sweet nugget. We love having a boy in our house!
