Dear Sweet Thomas,
I am in denial that you have turned two. You are leaving babyhood behind and entering true toddler and preschool age. The past two years you have filled our hearts with more happiness and joy than we could ever have imagined.
So many of my friends talked about baby boy love and I had no clue what they were talking about until you were born. There is nothing like my love for you and I could not have asked for anything better than the gift of you. You carry yourself with the sweetest demeanor -- you are always happy, usually patient, eager to please. There are few things in life that make you angry enough to throw a tantrum -- you just go with the flow and handle whatever we may throw you for the day.
You went from having few words to speaking in 3 and 4 word phrases and sentences. I love that you communicate so effectively and your sweet voice is music to my ears. You are always saying please and thank you. Your favorite phrases are "mommy car", "daddy car", and "where ellie go?".
Being outside is absolutely your happy place. You spend hours and hours in the front yard and on the deck and never once feel the need to go inside. Playing with water is your favorite and you love transferring water to different containers and watering our plants and flowers. You love the sand box and any other type of sensory box that we put in front of you. You request to swing quite often but will only tolerate it for 5 minutes before you tell us you're all done. You love to climb and have a great sense of balance and coordination. You play with trucks and cards and love to run them through the sand. You love riding on the Plasma car and the little ride on toy and seeing you scoot is my favorite. You want to ride the tricycle so badly but your legs aren't quite long enough yet.
Coloring, drawing, writing, and painting are also your favorites, specifically markers. When Ellie pulls out her paper out to draw us pictures, you have to do the same. You still love Peppa Pig. You really love going to Gymbo. Structured play is super great in your eyes and I know you will love and excel when you start school next year.
You have a fierce love for Ellie, Mommy and Daddy. You and Ellie play quite well together, mainly because you're so laid back and let her boss you around. You think she hung the moon and the two of you can get in the biggest giggling fits you have ever seen. You cry when we have to drop her off for dance and I can already foresee sad mornings when the two of you go to separate classrooms at school next year. You save the best hugs for Ellie before bedtime.
You have grown so much in the past year -- you've shot up in height and have lost much of the baby tummy that you had last summer. You are already brown as a berry and I'm so thankful that you don't burn easily. Your hair is turning more blonde every time you are outside. You wear 24m and 2T clothes and size 6 shoes -- your foot is constantly growing and I'm all the time buying you new shoes in the next size up.
Your favorite foods are applesauce packets, cut up apples, watermelon, pancakes, and muffins. You are going through somewhat of a picky stage right now and eating just isn't your favorite. You still love your smoothies in the morning and have discovered a love for green tea. You have a sweet tooth and love anything cake, cookies, or candy.
You are my snuggle bunny and as much as you love to play hard, you also love to rock rock and lay your head on my shoulder and suck your thumb. I'm afraid that habit is going to be a tough one to break.
Happy Birthday, precious boy! I could not love you one ounce more if I tried!
Mama
